Continuing Education Offered for C.Peds.

at SSIA Convention

For the C.Peds who plan to come to the SSIA Convention this summer in Orlando, the SSIA is pleased to announce the following.

Bill Meanwell of Contemporary Pedorthics Education will offer the following Pedothic Continuing Educational program. This course will be worth between eight and 10 continuing education points.

This program will be held Friday, August 18, 2006 at the same location as the SSIA convention.

Request the SSIA rate of $119 per night, good from Tuesday August 15, through Tuesday August 22, 2006. Reservations must be made with the hotel by July 28, 2006 to secure this rate.

The fee for this course is $395 paid by check or credit card prior to August 18, 2006.  Registration at the door will be $450. All registrations ,and questions about this program will be handled by:

Space is limited and will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis. If you need to cancel after enrolling, there will be a 10 percent cancellation fee.

7:30 a.m. - 8 a.m.

Registration and Introductions

8 a.m. - 9 a.m.

Overview of Gait - All phases of gait and how shoes play a role in gait

9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Assessment of patients feet - Including: Range of motion, sensitivity, and muscle strength

10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Pedorthic plan of treatment - Including: Pedorthic TRIC

11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Presto-scan image of plantar pressure - Including: Static and Dynamic impressions

12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

Lunch

1 p.m. - 2 p.m.

Apply data from presto-scan to pre-fabricated orthotics including Soft-Step orthotics and the ability to match grind from the Presto-scan

2 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Grinding techniques - Including; Posting and accommodations

3 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Shoe modifications for specific patient needs including gait specific shoe modifications for various pathologies

4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Orthotics for sport specific needs - Including: modification and fittings for various sports specific needs

5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Materials

6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Summary and questions and answers

As a reminder, the SSIA convention will be held on Saturday August 19, and Sunday August 20, 2006. All seminars on Saturday and Sunday are free for everyone but you will not earn CEPs needed to maintain your C.Ped certification at these seminars.
