PST Course Details

Course available online • Registration fee - $395

This course consists of self-paced online modules. Each module is comprised of a video, printable lecture notes, a lab activity, a study activity, and a self assessment. These modules can be accessed via a high-speed Internet connection from anywhere at any time with a username and password. These modules include:

  • Pedorthic Fundamentals

  • Terminology

  • Basic Foot Anatomy

  • Biomechanics

  • Common Foot Pathologies

  • Diabetic Complications
    Shoe fitting

  • Retail Shoe Business & Management

  • Material Science

In addition, Shoe Modification online modules include Video Practical Labs. The student uses a digital camera to take at least five photos of each modification process including one before, at least three during, and one final product photo. The photos are then emailed to the instructor. Video Lecture / Video Practical Labs include:

  • Thomas Metatarsal Bars

  • Crescent Metatarsal Bars

  • Mayo Metatarsal Bars

  • Wedging

  • Elevations / Rockers

  • SACH Heels

  • Excavations

  • Buttresses

  • Sole Flares

  • Closures

Optionally, the Shoe Modification Practical Labs may be completed during a live 3-day instructor lead course.

The PST to Pedorthic pre-certification bridge program is designed to provide the PST student with the balance of the competencies required for completion of the NCOPE / CAPE (ABC / BOC) approved Level One Pedorthic Precertification Program. The Bridge Program, in conjunction with the PST Program, meets all competency requirements of the Level One completion. Candidates for pedorthist certification can attain the BOC or ABC Pedorthist credential through successful completion of Levels 1, 2 and 3 of a CAPE approved pre-certification pedorthic program, passing the Pedorthic Board Examination and completion of 1000 hours of clinical experience.
