107th Annual Convention

SSIA, CFS Allied Health Education Offer C.Ped Course Prior to St. Petersburg Convention

The Shoe Service Institute of America, in partnership with CFS Allied Health Education, will hold a C.Ped. course to be presented prior to this summer's SSIA convention in St Petersburg, FL. The American Board for Certification has approved a total of 14 CEUs that can be earned for the low cost of $395 during this two day course.

After you have earned your points, stay a few extra days and attend SSIA's 107th Annual Convention Saturday July 16, and Sunday July 17. The SSIA offers seminars both Saturday and Sunday mornings and an open table-top exposition both days. You will be able to visit with representatives from around the world for products such as machinery, crepe, EVA, rubber, leather, adhesives, fitting aids, and much more.

Thursday July 14, 2011
8am – 5pm (One hour break for lunch plus two 15 minute breaks)

Basic Observational Gait Analysis - 4 Hours ($99)
This class explores various components used in observational gait analysis by using live demonstrations of both normal and pathological gait. Objectives include exploring components of normal gait, discussing muscle and joint activity during normal gait, use of basic and advanced observational components for gait analysis, and recognizing pathological gait patterns. Labs are included to practice the techniques demonstrated.

Lower Extremity Casting Techniques I - 3 Hours ($99)
This class explores step by step procedures for weight bearing static &
dynamic impression foam casts, semi-weight bearing impression foam casts, non-weight bearing plaster slipper casts, non-weight bearing fiberglass slipper casts, bivalve custom shoe casts, subtalar control foot orthosis Casts & UCBL Casting

Friday July 15, 2011
8am – 5pm (One hour break for lunch plus two 15 minute breaks)

Foot Examination and Assessment Techniques - 7 Hours ($199)
This class explores step by step procedures for performing foot, ankle and lower extremity assessments. These include: Range of Motion, Quantitative Sensory Testing, Muscle Strength Testing, Lateral Block, Hallux Hyperextension, Metatarsal Raise, Vascular Assessment, Integumentary System, PTTD Palpation and Single Heel Raise, and more! Labs are included to practice the techniques demonstrated.

Total CEUs: 14 Hrs.
