This year at our Baltimore
convention, we elected three new board members, one from
each part of our industry. We also said, “thank you” to
three board members who have finished their terms. They
were Paul Angelos, a supplier from Angelus Shoe Polish,
Billy Konomos with Konomos Distributing and Randy Lipson
with Cobblestone Shoe Repair in St Louis.
Our newly installed members are:
-
Don Rinandi, Petronio
Shoe Products from Belleville New Jersey – President
-
Bob Berman, Saderma
Wholesale Company in Los Angeles CA
-
Raul Odjea, Willie’s
Shoe Repair in Los Angeles CA
Our members with two years
remaining are:
-
Jim Ambrose, Soletech
out of Salem MA
-
Steve Sach – I Sach’s in
Chicago IL, Treasurer
-
Gino Mina from
Indianapolis
The last year on the board:
-
John McLoughlin, Quabaug/Vibram
North Brookfield MA, Vice President
-
Mary Jackson, Southern
Leather, Denver CO, Secretary
-
Dana Huval, Huval’s Boot
& Shoe Repair, Crowley LA
Our new board will change
the way suppliers join the SSIA. They will now pay an
association fee in addition to their membership fee
before getting approval from the supplier board members.
The wholesalers' and repairers' fees will remain the
same.
We are also trying to set our convention a little
further in weeks from the WSA show in Las Vegas so it is
not so hard of the wholesalers, suppliers and repairers
that try to attend both shows.
Jimmy Benson has been the SSIA’s show coordinator for
the past eight years finding hotels, getting suppliers
to show their goods and making sure things run smoothly
during our conventions. I am truly grateful to all he
has done for the SSIA. We are very lucky to have him.
Finally I would like to thank Mitch Lebovic with Lebovic
Communications who is our webmaster and maintains
www.ssia.info .Mitch
has been a great asset for out website. He has the
website separate for members and non-members, giving
members a shop talk section where we can post questions,
challenges and suggestions on which other members can
view and respond.
