I have an old pair of black suede boots that have a small slit, about 1/2 inch in front. Is there some way I can repair them. I live in a small town, and we have no shoe repair shop. Thanks! :-) Lill

where in the "front" of your boot is the slit?
If I were standing in your boots, (that alone might be impossible), can you point to where the damage is? but I digress.

if the slit is along the edge of where the boot leather meets the sole, sometimes that is easily repaired by ungluing the sole, gluing a piece of leather behind the slit(and sometimes sewing it) and the reglue the leather and the sole back together.

If the slit is in the upper part of the boot, we can glue a piece of leather behind the slit, or if there is a lining we would have to open the lining up and then glue the leather patch inside.

These are all just ideas, the best thing since you don't have a shoe repair shop in your neighborhood, you have to decide if it is worth it to send them to someone. The average postal charge is probably 8-9 dollars one way.

if it were as simple as above the repair wouldn't cost too much, so I guess I am suggesting that you either call or email me, and if you are able to take a digital picture to send along that would help.

Hi Gene,
I'm afraid the slit is quite visable; in the front area just to the right of the center below the 4th toe. I was hoping maybe some type of glue would patch them. These boots are pretty old, and I don't think they would be worth putting more money into.
I really appreciate your taking time to reply.
Thank you! :-)Lill

Black can be beautiful...sometimes with black the patching doesn't show as much as other kinds of patching, something to think about.
for future repairs.
